Ghost in the Shell, known in Japan as Mobile Armored Riot Police: Ghost In The Shell (攻殻機動隊 GHOST IN THE SHELL) is a science fiction anime film based on manga series by Masamune Shirow. The film was written by Kazunori Itō, directed by Mamoru Oshii and animated by Production I.G. The film was originally released in Japan on November 18, 1995. The film was released in North America on VHS and DVD by Manga Entertainment on June 18, 1996.
